Review For The Way, Way Back
Navigates a crowd-pleasing middle ground between the mopey introspection of Adventureland and the raucous summer antics of Meatballs.William Goss-Film.com
An endearingly sweet coming-of-ager.
Peter Debruge-Variety
It would be easy to get overly critical regarding the familiar beats of this crowd-pleaser but that would miss the point. It's a funny movie with a great ensemble performance, a sweet heart, and a note-perfect ending.
Brian Tallerico-Film Threat
The performances are solid throughout but Rockwell steals it, doing a riff on the characters Bill Murray played in movies like Stripes - the fast-talking, smart guy who really has a bigger heart than he likes to let on.
Brian Tallerico-HollywoodChicago.com
Nat Faxton and Jim Rash's directorial debut may not be breaking any new ground but this is a warm and funny tale, helped enormously by good performances and a snappy script.
Amber Wilkinson-Eye for Film
Sam Rockwell steals this show. Feels like this year's LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.
Chris Bumbray-JoBlo's Movie Emporium
When the credits roll, one is left thinking less of the fate of the characters than of the rollcall of Sundance offerings this film resembles.

Despite its reputation as the bonbon of the ballet world, The Nutcracker is far from a sugary cliché. The plot is as crazy as it is convincing. The surreal action takes place in an increasingly fantastical world, leaving the cozy domesticity of Clara's parent' house far behind. As soon as the audience adapts to one new world, another follows swiftly on as transformation follows transformation. The magician Drosselmeyer sets out to find a young girl who can break the curse imposed by the Mouse King on his nephew Hans-Peter, and restore him to human form. Mice and toys stage a pitched battle. Drosselmeyer sends Clara and Hans-Peter to the Land of the Snow and then to the Kingdom of Sweets where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and her prince.

At the stroke of midnight on August 15th, 1947, as India declares independence from Great Britain, two babies are switched at birth by a nurse in a Bombay hospital. And so it is that Saleem Sinai, the bastard child of a beggar woman, and Shiva, the only son of a wealthy couple, are fated to live the destinies meant for each other. Over the next three decades, Saleem and Shiva find themselves on opposite sides of many a conflict, whether it be because of class, politics, romantic rivalry, or the constantly shifting borders that are drawn every time neighbors become enemies and decide to split their newborn nation into two, and then three, warring countries. Through it all, the lives of Saleem and Shiva are mysteriously intertwined. They are also inextricably linked to the history of India itself, which takes them on a whirlwind journey full of trials, triumphs and disasters. (c) Paladin
